Apply now » Technical Lead for Data Area in Data & Analytics team Oulu, FI, 90230 #job-location.job-location-inline { display: inline; } Job ID: 6382   We are looking for a Technical Lead to join the Service Domain Data & Analytics team in Oulu under a full-time permanent employment agreement to lead the Customer 360 platform engineering team.   About our team   Our role is to harness the power of big data to drive smarter business decisions that directly impact how our organization processes, analyzes, and leverages massive datasets for strategic advantage.   You will be leading a team of data engineers in the Data & Analytics domain within Digital Technology, based in Oulu, Finland. Digital Technology is the biggest banking platform in the Nordics, bringing together talented people from around the world who deliver solutions to our customers at pace, helping Nordea become a frontrunner in digital banking services.   As the technical anchor and lead engineer for our Customer 360 platform, you will spearhead one of our most critical initiatives. The platform collects customer-related data from different source systems across the bank, standardizes it into a Nordic-wide Customer 360 view, and feeds critical downstream channels and advanced personalization models. You will mentor and upskill an established team of data engineers transitioning from legacy big data technology stacks to modern cloud-native solutions.   You as the Leader, play a key role in developing and supporting your team members to reach their aspirations and unleash their full potential.   This role is based at our active technology site in Oulu, Finland, which has strong connections to local university talent pipelines and an established site presence.   Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.   What you’ll be doing   Main responsibilities in this role:  Technical Leadership: Act as the technical authority for one of the Oulu Customer 360 engineering teams. Define software engineering standards, data design patterns, and migration pathways. Platform Re-platforming & Migration: Lead the design and hands-on migration of complex ELT pipelines based on Apache Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake. Domain Architecture: Develop a deep understanding of the Customer 360 data model across 70+ upstream source systems and help evolve it, ensuring high data fidelity, effective schema evolution, and low-latency downstream activation. Automated Data Quality & Reconciliation: Ensure that automated source-to-target reconciliation and data validation frameworks are in place to guarantee 100% data integrity during migration phases. Integrate pipeline test suites directly into DevOps deployment pipelines. Continuous Improvement & AI Enablement: Continuously identify and implement ways to improve the team's engineering effectiveness, delivery flow, quality, and developer experience. Evaluate, pilot, and scale responsible AI-powered workflows and automation, measuring their impact and sharing successful practices across Data & Analytics. Collaborative Governance: Partner closely with domain architects, business analysts, product owners, and central security teams to align technical delivery with Nordea's long-term 2030 technology strategy.   Who you are   This is the right role for you if  You are a hands-on leader who leads by example, writes clean and maintainable code, and is passionate about mentoring others. You are comfortable navigating highly complex, legacy big data environments and mapping them to clean, modern cloud topologies. You enjoy bridging the gap between business objectives (like hyper-personalization and marketing activation) and low-level data engineering details. You possess strong coaching skills, with the patience and a structured approach needed to guide an engineering team through a major technology paradigm shift.   Your background and skills include: Leadership: 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or acting as a Technical Lead in large-scale technology or data-related projects. Data Engineering: Experience in data engineering is highly valued, ideally with hands-on experience designing, building, and operating modern data platforms on Snowflake. Experience with dbt, Streams, Tasks, and Apache Iceberg tables is a strong plus, but candidates with a solid software engineering or platform engineering background and the ability to quickly grow into the data domain are also encouraged to apply. Cloud Infrastructure: Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM), plus experience with modern infrastructure as code (Terraform) or CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions). Software Engineering: Strong proficiency in Scala or Python, with a deep commitment to modern software engineering practices (unit testing, automated testing frameworks, and Git workflows).   It would be ideal if you also:  On-Premises Big Data Legacy: Solid, practical understanding of legacy on-premises big data systems (Cloudera, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark, MapReduce). Data Modeling & Architecture: Good understanding of data modeling concepts, data lakehouse architectures, and schema management. Experience with dimensional modeling and Kimball methodology is considered a plus. Security and Governance: Understanding of pseudonymization, responsible AI, data protection, model risk, and the controls needed to operate data and analytics solutions in a regulated environment. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex migration plans and architectural patterns clearly to both executive stakeholders and technical development teams.   As the Leader you are expected to and have a crucial role in: Creating purpose by translating strategy into operational and actionable plans to showcase how we create value for our customers and impact business priorities. Empowering people by identifying individual development opportunities to support growth and encourage them to share own ideas, concerns and learnings. Driving performance by recognising individual contributions and collective victories to maintain a healthy balance through measurable goals and clear priorities for each team member. Developing teams by nurturing a dynamic team culture, that emphasises trust and respect to ensure that everyone understands their unique value and contribution. Fostering inclusion by creating equal opportunity through curiosity about all aspects of diversity in your team to evaluate habits and perspectives on a continuous basis.   What we offer   People come here when they want to get somewhere. For some, it’s to take their career to the next level. For others, it’s to break new ground within their area of expertise – in other words, with us, you will always move forward.   A culture that fosters performance and growth in one of the largest Nordic banks, offering various opportunities to evolve, develop and learn from brilliant colleagues with diverse backgrounds in a vibrant working environment.   Hybrid working model – we believe in the value of bringing people together and at the same time we embrace the freedom of flexibility.   Diversity and inclusion are a natural part of our daily work.
